Dharamshala

Tibetan exile capital

Dharamshala is a city in northern India, in the Himalayan foothills of Himachal Pradesh.

It serves as the headquarters of the Tibetan government-in-exile and the residence of the Dalai Lama, making it a center of Tibetan Buddhist culture and a destination for spiritual seekers: We spent a month studying meditation in Dharamshala.

The name comes from a Sanskrit word meaning "shelter" or "rest house."
