Der Blaue Reiter
Kandinsky's artistic circle
Der Blaue Reiter (German, "The Blue Rider") was an expressionist art movement founded in Munich in 1911 by Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc.
The group pursued spiritual and abstract approaches to painting, rejecting conventional representation.
Their influential almanac and exhibitions helped shape early modernism before World War I dissolved the movement.
