DACA

Youth immigration policy

DACA stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, a U.S. immigration policy established in 2012 that allows certain people who entered the country illegally as children to receive temporary protection from deportation and work permits.

Recipients are often called Dreamers, after the DREAM Act legislation that inspired the program: Her DACA status is up for renewal next year.
