Cloverfield

Found-footage creature film

Cloverfield is a 2008 American monster film presented as found footage from a handheld camera during an attack on New York City.

The title has become shorthand for the found-footage horror genre and spawned a loose franchise of thematically connected films.

By extension, cloverfield sometimes describes any chaotic disaster scenario captured through amateur video: The hurricane footage was pure cloverfield.
