Mayan calendar
Ancient Mexican cycles
The Mayan calendar is a system of timekeeping developed by the ancient Maya civilization of Mesoamerica.
It combines multiple cycles: a 260-day ritual calendar, a 365-day solar calendar, and a longer "Long Count" tracking thousands of years.
The calendar gained popular attention around 2012 when a cycle ending was misinterpreted as predicting apocalypse: The Mayan calendar doesn't actually forecast the end of the world.
