trigrams
Three-character sequences
Trigrams are sequences of three consecutive items, most commonly three letters or three words.
In linguistics and natural language processing, trigrams help analyze patterns in text—letter trigrams like "the" or "ing" reveal spelling conventions, while word trigrams capture common phrases and predict what word might come next.
The search algorithm uses trigrams to find similar-sounding names.
In Chinese culture, trigrams refer to the eight symbolic figures of three stacked lines (solid or broken) used in the I Ching for divination.
