Carl Gauss
Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777–1855) was a German mathematician and physicist, often called the "Prince of Mathematicians." His contributions span number theory, statistics, algebra, and astronomy.
The normal distribution is called the Gaussian distribution after him, and the gauss is a unit of magnetic field strength.
Gaussian blur in image processing uses his mathematical work.
