Captain Kangaroo
Captain Kangaroo was an American children's television program that aired from 1955 to 1984, and its gentle, grandfatherly host played by Bob Keeshan.
The Captain, named for the large pockets of his jacket, became a cultural touchstone for generations of American children: I grew up watching Captain Kangaroo every morning before school.
