pornography
Adult sexual content
Pornography is material depicting sexual activity, intended to arouse.
The term covers everything from explicit photographs and videos to written erotica.
Porn is the common shortening.
What counts as pornography versus art or erotica depends on who's judging—the line has shifted across eras and cultures.
The internet transformed how pornography is distributed and consumed.
Metaphorically, anything that offers visceral gratification without substance may be called pornography: poverty porn, food porn, disaster porn.
