The Honeymooners

Recently wed vacationers

The Honeymooners is an American television sitcom from the 1950s starring Jackie Gleason as Ralph Kramden, a blustering Brooklyn bus driver whose get-rich-quick schemes invariably fail.

The show established enduring sitcom conventions: the working-class couple, the wisecracking wife, the loyal but dim sidekick.

Ralph's catchphrases—One of these days, Alice... pow, right in the moon! —and his frustrated ambitions made the series a template for blue-collar comedy from The Flintstones to King of Queens.
