Buffy

Girl's informal name

Buffy is a given name, usually female, often a nickname for Elizabeth.

The name became culturally prominent through the television series *Buffy the Vampire Slayer* (1997–2003), which established the character type of a seemingly ordinary young woman who is secretly a supernatural warrior.

She's named after Buffy Sainte-Marie, the folk singer. (Lowercase buffy describes a pale yellowish-brown color.)
