Bartter syndrome

Renal potassium depletion

Bartter syndrome is a rare inherited kidney disorder in which the kidneys fail to reabsorb salt properly, leading to low potassium, muscle weakness, and growth problems.

It typically appears in infancy or childhood.

Named after the American endocrinologist Frederic Bartter, who described the condition in 1962.
