Assumption
Virgin's heavenly reception
The Assumption is the Catholic doctrine that the Virgin Mary was taken bodily into heaven at the end of her earthly life, celebrated as a feast day on August 15.
The term also names churches, schools, and other institutions dedicated to this event: the Cathedral of the Assumption, Assumption College. (Lowercase assumption is something taken for granted or the act of taking on a responsibility.)
