12-inch records
Full-sized vinyl platters
12-inch records are vinyl discs played at 33⅓ or 45 RPM, larger than the standard 7-inch single.
The format dominates albums and is preferred by DJs for its wider grooves, which allow louder mastering and easier manipulation.
In dance music, a 12-inch single typically features extended mixes: The DJ dropped a rare 12-inch of the track.
