zoomies

Sudden dog dash

Zoomies describes the sudden burst of frantic energy that compels a pet—usually a dog—to sprint in wild circles or figure eights, often for no apparent reason.

The term comes from animal behavior (formally called frenetic random activity periods) but has become the standard informal word among pet owners: The puppy got the zoomies right after her bath.
