Hippocratic corpus
Greek physician's texts
The Hippocratic corpus is a collection of about sixty ancient Greek medical texts attributed to or associated with Hippocrates, the physician often called the father of Western medicine.
The works cover topics from disease and treatment to medical ethics, including the famous Hippocratic oath.
Scholars believe multiple authors wrote these texts over roughly two centuries, though they share a rational approach to medicine that rejected supernatural explanations for illness.
