wounded soldier
Hurt military personnel
A wounded soldier is a partially full bottle of alcohol left over after a party or gathering.
The term comes from the bottle's diminished state—still standing but damaged, like a soldier injured in battle.
Party hosts might collect wounded soldiers the morning after: We found a dozen wounded soldiers scattered around the living room.
Sometimes the dregs are combined into a single container.
