Stepwise vocabulary puzzles
Word ladders are puzzles where you transform one word into another by changing a single letter at each step, with every intermediate step also being a valid word.
To get from COLD to WARM: COLD → CORD → CARD → WARD → WARM.
The puzzle was invented by Lewis Carroll.
Also called doublets or word golf.
