windrows

Raked harvest strips

Windrows are long rows of cut hay, grain, or other material raked together and left to dry in a field before collection.

The term extends to any similar linear accumulation: windrows of fallen leaves along the curb, windrows of snow left by the plow.

To windrow is to arrange material into such rows.
