winddown
Easing off period
A winddown is a gradual reduction or relaxation period, typically before sleep or at the end of an activity.
Parents establish winddown routines for children—dimming lights, reading stories, avoiding screens.
The term applies to any deliberate deceleration: The project entered its winddown phase as deadlines passed.
Also spelled wind-down or wind down.
