white cell count
Immune cell measurement
White cell count is the number of white blood cells in a given volume of blood, typically measured as part of routine medical testing.
White blood cells fight infection, so an elevated count often indicates the body is responding to illness or inflammation: Her white cell count was high, suggesting infection.
A low count may signal immune deficiency or bone marrow problems.
Also called white blood cell count or leukocyte count.
