septa

Internal dividing walls

Septa is the plural of septum, a wall or partition dividing a cavity or structure.

In anatomy, the nasal septum separates the nostrils; the cardiac septum divides the heart's chambers.

In biology, septa divide fungal hyphae or coral structures into compartments.

The septa between chambers were clearly visible in the cross-section. (Capitalized SEPTA is a transit authority.)
