weal
Common good, archaically
Weal is well-being or prosperity, especially of a community or state: the public weal, the common weal.
The word is literary and old-fashioned, surviving mainly in set phrases.
Commonwealth preserves it.
Weal and woe is a poetic pairing meaning good fortune and bad.
