bug bite
Mosquito's parting gift
A bug bite is a wound on the skin caused by an insect—a mosquito, flea, bedbug, or similar creature.
The term is casual and imprecise, covering both bites (from mouthparts) and stings (from venom injectors): I woke up covered in bug bites.
Bug bites typically itch, swell, or redden as the body reacts to foreign substances.
