wax-myrtle
Coastal aromatic shrub
Wax-myrtle is a North American shrub with aromatic leaves and small berrylike fruits coated in a grayish wax.
The wax was traditionally used to make candles—hence the name.
Also called bayberry.
The wax-myrtle grows thick along the coastal dunes.
