water hardness
Dissolved mineral concentration
Water hardness is a measure of dissolved minerals in water, primarily calcium and magnesium.
Hard water leaves scale deposits in pipes and appliances, makes soap lather poorly, and can leave spots on dishes and fixtures.
Water softeners remove these minerals.
The water hardness here is off the charts—my showerhead is completely clogged.
- deionizationRemoval of ionic content
- alkalineHaving high pH
- magnesiumAlkaline earth metal
- bicarbonatesAcid-neutralizing salts
