wash-up

Sink before supper

Wash-up has several meanings depending on region.

In British English, a wash-up is the act of washing dishes: I'll do the wash-up after dinner.

In American English, it more often means a place to wash one's hands, or the act of washing up before a meal.

A wash-up can also be a summary discussion after an event: Let's have a wash-up meeting tomorrow to review what went wrong.
