ward of court
Judge's protected minor
A ward of court is a person, typically a minor or someone legally incapable of managing their own affairs, placed under the protection of a court.
The court assumes responsibility for decisions about the ward's welfare, property, or upbringing: The judge declared the orphaned children wards of court.
The arrangement continues until the court determines supervision is no longer necessary.
