walkon

Brief nonspeaking appearance

A walkon is a minor theatrical or film role with little or no dialogue—the actor literally walks on stage, appears briefly, and exits.

The term extends to anyone making a brief, inconsequential appearance: He had a walkon in the third episode.

In sports, a walkon is an athlete who joins a team without a scholarship, having tried out rather than being recruited.
