ventilation duct
Building's breath passage
A ventilation duct is a channel or tube that carries air through a building as part of a heating, cooling, or air circulation system.
Ducts typically run through walls, ceilings, or floors, connecting to vents in individual rooms: The inspector found mold growing in the ventilation ducts.
In fiction, ventilation ducts are famously depicted as crawlspaces for escaping prisoners or infiltrating spies—though real ducts are rarely large or sturdy enough for this.
