Manipulated naive supporter
A useful idiot is someone who unwittingly advances a cause they don't fully understand, manipulated by others who exploit their naivety.
The term originated in Cold War politics, describing Western sympathizers who promoted Soviet interests without realizing they were being used: The regime cultivated useful idiots among foreign journalists.
Now applied broadly to anyone serving as a pawn for agendas they don't grasp.
