unshipping

Taking off vessel

Unshipping is removing something from its fixed position or mounting.

In nautical use, you unship oars by lifting them from the oarlocks, or unship a mast by taking it down: We unshipped the rudder for repairs.

The word extends to any act of detaching equipment from its operational position.
