union recognition
Employer accepts bargaining
Union recognition is the formal acknowledgment by an employer that a labor union represents its workers and has authority to bargain on their behalf.
Recognition may come voluntarily or through an election process supervised by a labor relations board.
Once recognition occurs, the employer must negotiate with the union over wages, benefits, and working conditions: The company finally granted union recognition after months of organizing.
