uncountability

Cannot be numbered

Uncountability is the quality of being impossible to count.

In everyday use, it describes quantities too vast or diffuse to enumerate: the uncountability of grains of sand on a beach.

In mathematics, uncountability has a precise meaning—a set is uncountable if its elements cannot be put in one-to-one correspondence with the natural numbers, as with the real numbers.

In grammar, uncountability refers to nouns that don't take plural forms or combine with numerals: water, information, furniture.
