nebulosity

Fuzzy, indistinct quality

Nebulosity is the quality of being nebulous—cloudy, hazy, or vague.

In astronomy, it refers to patches of diffuse light in the night sky, such as gas clouds or distant star clusters: The nebulosity in Orion is visible through binoculars.

More abstractly, nebulosity describes vagueness in thought or expression: The nebulosity of his argument frustrated everyone.
