two-seam
Sinking fastball type
A two-seam is a type of fastball in baseball, gripped along the two narrow seams of the ball rather than across the wide seams.
The grip causes the pitch to move or sink as it approaches the plate, making it harder to hit squarely: His two-seam was running in on right-handed hitters all night.
Often used as an adjective: two-seam fastball.
