twin-engined

Doubly powered aloft

Twin-engined describes aircraft or vehicles equipped with two engines, typically one on each side: a twin-engined Cessna, twin-engined fighter planes.

The configuration provides redundancy—if one engine fails, the other can maintain flight.

Also spelled twin-engine when used attributively.
