tuning dial
Radio station finder
A tuning dial is the rotating control on a radio that selects frequencies or stations.
Turning the dial moves a pointer along a numbered scale showing AM or FM frequencies.
Before digital tuners and preset buttons, finding a station meant slowly turning the dial while listening for a clear signal: She turned the tuning dial until the static cleared.
