mute button
Sound off control
A mute button silences audio output or input on a device—televisions, phones, video calls, microphones.
Pressing it cuts sound without adjusting volume settings.
I hit the mute button whenever commercials come on.
On video calls, muting prevents others from hearing you: You're on mute has become a familiar refrain of remote work.
