balance control
Stability regulation mechanism
Balance control is a knob or slider on audio equipment that adjusts the relative volume between left and right stereo channels.
Turning it shifts the sound toward one speaker or the other, useful for compensating when speakers aren't equidistant from the listener or when one ear hears better than the other.
I adjusted the balance control because my left speaker was partially blocked by furniture.
Most listeners leave it centered.
