tubo-ovarian abscess
Infected fallopian mass
A tubo-ovarian abscess is a pus-filled pocket involving the fallopian tube and ovary, typically resulting from pelvic inflammatory disease.
The infection causes these structures to fuse into an inflammatory mass.
It's a serious gynecological emergency requiring antibiotics and often surgical drainage: The CT scan revealed a tubo-ovarian abscess on the left side.
