double axel
Two-rotation ice jump
A double axel is a figure skating jump in which the skater takes off from a forward outside edge, rotates two and a half times in the air, and lands backward on the opposite foot.
The extra half-rotation distinguishes axel jumps from other skating jumps, making the double axel one of the more difficult elements to master.
She finally landed her double axel in competition.
