toepick
Skate's front jagging
A toepick is the serrated teeth at the front of a figure skating blade, used to dig into the ice for jumps, spins, and stops.
The term appears in skating instruction and commentary: She launched the triple lutz off her toepick.
Outside skating, toepick gained currency as an insult after the 1992 film *The Cutting Edge*, where it expressed contempt for clumsiness or ineptitude.
