trigger finger

Gun-firing appendage

Trigger finger has two meanings.

In shooting, it's the finger used to pull the trigger—usually the index finger: Keep your trigger finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire.

In medicine, it's a condition where a finger catches or locks when bent, caused by inflammation in the tendon sheath.
