treefolk
Sentient woody creatures
Treefolk are humanoid tree creatures in fantasy fiction and games—sentient beings with bark for skin, branches for limbs, and roots for feet.
They typically serve as ancient forest guardians, slow-moving but immensely strong: The treefolk emerged from the woods to defend their grove.
Tolkien's Ents are the archetype.
