Treebeard

Treebeard is a character from J.R.R.

Tolkien's *The Lord of the Rings*—an ancient tree-like being called an Ent who shepherds the forests of Middle-earth.

His name translates his Elvish name Fangorn.

The character embodies patient, deliberate wisdom; calling someone a Treebeard suggests they move or speak with ponderous slowness: Don't be such a Treebeard—just make a decision.
