tree-kangaroos

Pouched forest climbers

Tree-kangaroos are marsupials native to the rainforests of New Guinea and northeastern Australia that have adapted to life in trees.

Unlike their ground-dwelling relatives, they have shorter hind legs, stronger forelimbs, and curved claws for gripping branches.

They move awkwardly on the ground but are agile climbers, capable of leaping between trees.

Tree-kangaroos are solitary, nocturnal herbivores that feed mainly on leaves and fruit.
