macropod
Big-footed Australian mammal
A macropod is a member of the family of marsupials that includes kangaroos, wallabies, and tree-kangaroos—animals characterized by large hind feet and powerful back legs adapted for hopping.
The term comes from Greek words meaning "large foot." In casual use, macropod usually just means kangaroo: We spotted several macropods grazing at dusk.
