joey
Marsupial young one
A joey is a baby kangaroo, wallaby, or other marsupial, especially one still carried in its mother's pouch.
The term extends to any young marsupial from birth until it leaves the pouch permanently: The joey peeked out from its mother's pouch.
In Australian slang, joey can also mean a young animal of other species or a young person.
