towner
Non-student community member
A towner is a permanent resident of a place as distinguished from temporary visitors or transients.
The term appears most often in college towns, where towner (or townie) separates locals from students and faculty: The bar was full of towners who resented the college kids.
It can carry mild condescension, implying someone provincial or unsophisticated.
